Welcome to the Candleford Inn!

Candleford Inn B&B is located in western Pennsylvania on the border of Lawrence and Mercer Counties in the quaint village of Volant, PA. Open year round in the heart of Amish country, Candleford Inn is just minutes from I-79 or I-80 on Route 208, close to both Westminster and Grove City Colleges. It is within easy walking distance of over 25 shops and restaurants in Volant as well as a short drive to the Grove City Outlet shops. The Inn combines a touch of class with the warmth of a 100+ year old home.

Come. Escape from your hectic routine. Spend a day or a week with us in quaint Volant. Relax amidst the serenity of the quiet farm countryside. Stroll through the shops of restored small-town Volant. Enjoy excellent fly-fishing in the Neshannock Creek. Take an adventure into the surrounding countryside with Amish homes, greenhouses, food stands and occasionally locate Amish made donuts. Shop for Amish-made quilts or rugs or furniture at the shops of local Amish craftspeople, usually located in or by their homes. Sit on our large front porch and watch the Amish horse-drawn buggies pass by or tie up at the horse hitch across the street. Venture into the local wineries, both in town as well as along route 208.

About the Owners

Carolyn and Howard Moss purchased Candleford Inn Bed and Breakfast in the Fall of 2001 and after some significant renovations which included the installation of private baths re-opened the bed and breakfast in 2002. Carolyn considers herself to be a Pennsylvanian, having lived in a variety of places throughout the state. She has an eclectic background in music, social work and theology. In addition she actively participates in the Japanese martial art of aikido. Howard is originally from Pittsburgh. He is passionate about his alma mater, Ohio University (Go Bobcats!) as well as any Pittsburgh sports team (especially the Pirates). He has an accounting background which may account for his enjoyment of chess and the multiple chess boards which can be found in the house. The Mosses have maintained and surpassed the high standards that guests have come to expect from this delightful home. Their children, Caitlin and Zachary can still occasionally be found helping out around the bed and breakfast although they are now all grown up.
